New Optometry and Ocular Care Centre

OUR MISSION:
TO HELP EVERYONE ACHIEVE A LIFETIME OF OPTIMAL VISION

NEW Optometry and Ocular Care Centre (NOOCC EYE CENTRE) is a professionally managed and clinically driven primary eye care specialist centre. Our specialised clinical team provides integrated professional diagnostic and consultation services including specialist/treatment assessments. We feature our own in-house eye wear and accessories dispensary unit.

NOOCC EYE CENTRE provides full works of eye health examination services to the general community since 2005; ranging from basic eye power checks to comprehensive eye health examinations services. Our clinical services include eye health examination, refractive status assessment, contact lens consultation, binocular vision assessment and other eye care services.

NOOCC EYE CENTRE is listed by the Ministry of Health in their health professional portal along with eye hospitals such as SNEC, TTSH Eye Centre etc, as one of the centres that provides Diabetic Retinal Photography Services in October 2006.

We often receive patient referrals from GPs (Family Physicians) especially diabetic and hypertensive patients, for further assessment of the eye and its health and/or for prescribing of eye-glasses.

Today, long-sightedness (hyperopia), short-sightedness (myopia), astigmatism (“san guang”) and presbyopia (“Lao Hua Yan”) are still being perceived as the main eye conditions that lead to poor vision.

As such, most people would go for prescription checks (eye power check) at optical retail outlets and to make or update eye-glasses or contact lenses to correct their vision problem, but they failed to notice the other eye conditions that may also be present.

For example, damage to eyes resulting from long-term exposure to UV rays, corneal defect staining due to improper use of contact lenses and many more. There are other eye conditions that arise as part of the natural ageing process as well as eye conditions related to medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and computer vision syndrome or digital eye strain amongst youths and the middle-aged group.

“I CAN SEE VERY WELL, I DON’T NEED EYE HEALTH CHECKS”

Assessing your eye health by whether you can “see well” at present is insufficient, as some eye disorders do not exhibit any symptoms in the early stages but would lead to deterioration or even loss of vision if not detected and treated early.

Just like our teeth, our eyes require regular check-ups by professional practitioners to ascertain the general health and detect any disorders and/ or diseases in its early stages, before it evolves into something that severely impairs your vision. Unlike teeth, our eyes are irreplaceable.
